Guest Becca Burke Allison,,,, I've Had It With You People

Not you people! You people are my fellow drivers! Most of you are nice, hard working, safe, courteous-well, if not, I'll get to you later.

No, this blog is for ranting about Those Other People. You know, the ones we run into every day. Oh no, not actually run into-that would hurt. I mean the daily encounters a driver has to put up with just do our job. I hope to put a little fun into it, cause God knows we need a laugh or ten.

So, each time I'll write on something we could do without, something that ticks me off, something I'd rather see-you know the deal. Send me subjects and I'll include your pet peeves.

This first one's a small one but irritates me to no end.

Here’s the scenario: It’s late at night, dark as heck, and you are trying to find your
consignee to get rid of this load and get some sleep. You have the address and the directions off
of the Qualcomm that your company sent you. Should be NO PROBLEM, right?
Stop that laughing! Just because it’s the wrong address, the directions were written by an
illiterate gorilla, and the road atlas has a big chili stain where the place SHOULD be…..
The address is the one to send the invoice to, not where you have to deliver it. Okay, fine,
but the directions should be better……they say, “Go north 1.3 miles and turn east on Barnett
Street.”

Quick, north is….umm, left, or is it right because I’m coming from the east? Okay, got
that right, now to find Barnett Street. Dover, Cornwall, Bartlett……where’s Barnett? Now
you’re headed out into Cornfield Country! Could it have been…..ahhh, Barnett was supposed to
be Bartlett! The gorilla got you again! Eight miles later you finally find a place past the cornfields to turn around and head back to Bartlett Street, remembering to turn the other way on it this time. Now to find the address. Lots of businesses out here….and all the signs are teeny-tiny or not lighted. Hey – all the people who work here, in the daytime, know where it is!
You want to scream, “You want your stuff? Then, by God, figure out it’s being delivered
by people FROM OUT OF TOWN! Light your sign! Put the numbers on your building! And
how about a sign that says, ‘Truck Entrance’?”

There, I’ve screamed for you! Now you can deliver their stuff and be polite! Until the
guy says, “You’re late!”
